As I said last week, I’m planning on writing a little bit more often and tadahhh..!! Here’s my second post this year 😁
During the christmas vacation we were mostly at my moms house. Friends of ours stayed there too, and we decided to have a Disney movie marathon (#66) I said I wanted too watch a minimum of 3 movies and we managed to watch 6! We watched the following movies; winnie the pooh, tangled, saludos amigos, home on the range, the little mermaid and Hercules. Another goal of mine was to watch an old movie (#81) and I’m writing down salidos amigos as my old movie watched, since it came out in 1943. I never watched it before even though I’ve had the movie for a couple of years. I collect all the classic Disney movies and this is one of them. I must be honest and say that I’ll probably never watch it again because it wasn’t really a story but rather a movie about the making of Disney movies in those years. Not that it wasn’t interesting but I’d rather watch other movies.
Another thing we did was a New years swim in the ocean at midnight on New years eve!(#74) It was soooo cold! But my mom started doing it a couple of years ago and now it’s kind of a tradition! So I’ll probably do it again next New years eve 😉
So… Long time no see huh? I’ve been really busy since last time, so that’s my excuse this time 😉
Let’s start with the Amsterdam city swim! My mom and I participated on the 3rd of september and it was so much fun! I was a little bit nervous because it was the first time I did something like this. We swam 2 km and I finished in 1 hour and 11 minutes! My mom did it in 1 hour and 7 minutes. The first 750 meters where the hardest for me. But then I got a nice rhytm to it. While swimming I passed 2 who have ALS and that’s when you realise why you do it. It made a deep impression on me and I might just swim again.
A week after the city swim I moved to Norway, and I’ve started working at a school. I love being back here and have so many plans for the future! I’ve started another list with things to do… But this is a 40 before 40 list. I’m not sure if I will write about it here, but it’s a list full of things I’ve wanted to do for a long time.
The boyfriend moved to Norway a couple of weeks later and I’m just really happy that we’re finally here together.
Next item on my done list is #8, read 10 new books.
Since I like to read books again and again this was actually a challenge for me. I Finished this one somewhere in september 2017 (if I remember correctly) These are the books I read:
Unlikely pilgrimage of Herald Fry. Rachel Joyce
The love song of miss Queenie Hennessy. Rachel Joyce
Me before you. Jojo Moyes
After you. Jojo Moyes
Is Tvillingane (Ice Twins). S.K. Tremayne
Inderen som syklet til Sverige (amazing story of the man who cycled from India to Europe for love. Per J. Andersson
Fantastic beasts and where to find them. J.K. Rowling
Wild. Cheryl Strayed
Everything, Everuthing. Nicola Yoon
Arven (the legacy). Katherine Webb
Some of the books I read in Norwegian, So I wrote the english title behind it. I often read young adult and fantasy books, so some of these new ones where a little bit out of my comfort zone… But I enjoyed every one of them and can highly recommend them.
Last one I’m gonna tell you about today is #50, Go to 5 concerts.
I love going to concerts! For this challenge I wrote down the following:
Volbeat (15-11-2016, Amsterdam)
Blackberry Smoke (22-03-2017, Amsterdam)
Raccoon (15-04-2017, Hengelo)
Robert Jon and the Wreck (27-08-2017)
Volbeat (05-09-2017, Eindhoven)
I can’t choose which of these I liked best, but I have to say that the last Volbeat show was amazing! It was outdoors, and the music was sooo loud! I think it was their second best show I’ve been to. I’m hoping we’ll get to go to some concerts in Norway next.
One of my new years resolutions is to write a blog more often… And I’m trusting my faithfull BuJo to remind me of that.
Soooo… I’m really bad at keeping up aren’t I?! I do keep up with my list though! One of the things on my list is to make a photo album with pictures from Norway (#25). And it took me quite a while to get started, but it is done! I recently had a really good offer from Saal Digital and it took me just a hour to make my album. It was really easy and I could choose between a lot different options for lay-outs. I can’t show off too much of the album since it will be a gift but I’m really pleased with the result!
Another thing was to go to an amusement park (#4) In the month of juli a restaurant we really wanted to visit before we moved had a summer deal. Which meant that we got tickets to go to walibi world! And since this was one of my things from the list and the boyfriend also really wanted to go… It was a no brainer. So 2 weeks ago we went to walibi and had a blast! We got to ride all the rollercoasters that day and I can’t wait till next time we go to an amusement park!
Amd the last thing of my list for today is #28. Make or update a recipe book. I had an old one lying around and I recently bought a binder to update my recipe book. Right now I’m in Germay housesitting, and have all the time of the world. So what better way to spend some of it on the recipe binder. I choose which ones to keep from the old one and added a few new recipes, and after 3 days I was done. I wrote most of the recipes by hand so that’s why it took so long. But I’m really pleased with the result.
I’ve finished a few more things but those I’ll tell about next time
So… turns out I’m really bad at keeping up with writing blog posts. I keep writing it on my to do list, but somehow I just keep moving it forward to another day. But today I’m finally sitting down and taking the time to write. Even though I’m really bad at keeping up with this blog, I still work on my 101 things list. There are a lot of things I’m working on. For example I’m taking a selfie each month (#50), finding out favorite songs (#77), and sorting out all my pictures (#100).
Last time I said there were 25 finished, but I forgot one so it were actually 26. I’ve finished 2 more since then.
#9, Game night with friends.
It wasn’t just 1 game night we had. We had friends over or we went to their house for 4 or 5 nights over the course of 4 weeks. And we’re still planning more of these nights! It’s just so much fun I think. I’ve even started to keep track of the games The Boyfriend and I play and off course who has won. My favorite games at the moment are Ticket to ride, Fluxx (Firefly) and Mysterium. Fluxx We played with friends and I bought the game the next day! I just had to get the Firefly themed one because I love the series! There are a lot of themes and off course there is a ‘normal’one too.
#15, Send 10 postcards to friends.
I was planning on sending these cards at random times during the 1001 days, but on valentine’s day you could send a postcard and use a Kiss as a stamp. I loved this idea and immediately wrote 10 postcards and send them out the same day! It was really funny to see the text messages on valentine’s day of people who were wondering who had send the card. Only 3 of my friends guessed it was me, and I think some of them still don’t know who send the card!
As I said a little earlier, there are a lot of things I’m working on. I love doing these things and I might have done them eventually without the 1001 days challenge. But the challenge makes me want to them sooner! So for me the challenge is actually a little kick in my butt.
Not gonna promise to write again soon, but I’ll do my best!
Today a short post about some goals I have finished.
#29, Color my hair a bright color.
I had pink and Blue/green ends for Halloween, I loved it! But the boyfriend doesn’t really like it so I’m thinking of this one as done. The picture below is the only one I have showing it.
#39, Take pictures in a photo booth.
Last November we and a couple of friends went to see Volbeat in concert. And when we were on our way back to the hotel we came across a photo booth. And since it was the middle of the night One of my friends and I just had to take pictures. We could choose between normal pictures or something fun. So we choose this –>
#41 Send a postcard to a random address.
As you may have seen I started keeping a bullet journal. To get ideas I joined a Facebook group and one of the the other members had the fun idea to organize a swap. We used Elfster, which is a page that allows people to sign up and then matches those people to someone else in that group. So you don’t know who you’re sending something to until those names have been drawn. The 2nd of January I got an email with the address I got to send a little something to, it was an address in USA, Texas if I’m remembering it right. Since this was a bullet journal related swap I send a postcard from the Netherlands with some stickers and washi tape. I haven’t received something yet. But as there are members from all over the world I’m just happy to keep waiting.
#52, Rent a booth at a flea market
In November we rented a booth. It was supposed to be me and the boyfriend. But he had to work that day, so my mom stepped in and joined me that day. Time flew by and we actually sold quite a lot.
#91 Do a photo Challenge.
A while back I told about a photo challenge I made. I took all the pictures but haven’t showed it to you guys yet. So below is a collage of all 30 pictures.
That’s another 5 finished goals which makes my total 25 finished! Only 76 to go 😉
I know, I know. It’s been too long! I’ve missed you too! Today’s post will be about some of the things I’m still working on. Like going to the movies (#100) … Last time I’d only been twice, but now I’ve been 4 times already! I’ve seen Bridget Jones Baby (Such a funny movie!) A friend of mine and I got tickets for our birthday (we celebrated it together) and decided we’d go see this one. She hasn’t seen the first 2, but liked it never the less. The 4th movie on my list is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them. I loved it! First of all because it’s set in the wizarding world, but it’s also a movie you can watch without ever having seen the Harry Potter movies (I know! How could you not have seen them…. but there are still people out there who haven’t!) I loved Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, it was easy to like the character the way he played it. And there were some really funny bits also. I won’t tell which scene I liked best, that would be a spoiler. You just have to go and see the movie for yourself.
Another one I’ve started is #50, go to 5 concerts. I’ve been to 2 festivals this year but no concerts. Until last month.. VolBeat was finally back in Europe and we saw them at the ziggo dome in Amsterdam. And we already have tickets to see them next year! I can’t wait! We’re also planning to see Blackberry Smoke again next year. So this one is almost finished.
I haven’t been that good to keep up with sending postcards through postcrossing, but I’m planning on taking it up again. I’ve only sent 2 so far, and I wanted to send at least 10. So only 8 to go…
As I’ve told before I’ve started a Bullet Journal, and I love it! It really helps me to keep track of my daily to do lists (especially since I love crossing things of my list) Since a Bullet Journal let’s you add pages as you see fit It really gives you the freedom to organize as you wish. To keep track of all these things I’ve made a tracker page. It’s really simple but it seems that’s the way to go for me. As you can see in the picture below I still have a lot to do.
It also helps me to plan all of these things I want do do for my 1001 days challenge, It’s a constant reminder when I write in it. And it’s really easy to plan ahead this way. Next step is to plan in my blog posts so I’ll keep you guys updated more frequently.
Two goals finished since the last time I wrote. # 3, visit a museum and #18, plan a surpise for someone I love. So let me tell you a little bit about both of them.
A couple of weeks ago a friend of mine and I planned a surprise for a few of our friends. Since we are moving we decided we wanted to do something special and fun with these girls. So we planned a photo shoot to make a birthday calendar and then afterwards we could eat together. The girls didn’t find out what we were going to do until the day of the actual surprise. We only told them that they had to wear something nice. There were individual pictures, but also pictures of all 5 of us and a few with just 2 or 3 of us. Since I’m usually the one taking the pictures, this was something different to me. But I had such a wonderful day! I think the girls really liked the surprise.
On the weekend we were with another group of friends. We rented a house and on Saturday we went to Zwolle where they walked around town on a scavenger hunt which I made. While they were out walking I sat at a local pub and tried sending them the right way. They had to take pictures to get the clues to the next location. And they could get bonus points if they took a picture of something I had put on a list for them. Since I was sitting by myself it must have looked real funny, since some of the pictures I got were really funny and I laughed out loud!
On Sunday we went to Giethoorn. It’s a real tourist spot here in the Netherlands! While we were there we went on an little boat trip which took us through the village and a little bit out on the lake. We also visited two of the small museums they have there. One is a shell museum with a huge collections of shells and jewelry made out of shells, and the other one is a diving exhibition. Here you would see all kinds of old diving equipment.
Have you even been to Giethoorn? I love it over there, especially in the summer.
A few weeks ago I started a bullet journal. I read a lot about it on Pinterest and really liked this way of keeping organized. At first I thought I would keep my private and challenge pages separated. But I quickly found out I didn’t like that at all. So I ripped out most of the pages (sounds really dramatic but it were just 5 or 6 pages) and I started again. The way I use it now is really simple and it seems to work for me. That´s what I like about a bullet journal, you can use it the way you like and it doesn’t have to be perfect.
I have my monthly or future log in the back of my journal. This is a left over from my first try and it made sense to me to keep it that way. Out of the way but easy to find. I didn’t draw all of these myself, only the first 3 months. For the rest I used a printable calendar I really liked. There are lots to choose from if you use Google or Pinterest to search for them. I simply used washi tape on the side to show which year the months are in.
I use weekly pages and daily pages both.
Both of them are really simple and inspired
by all of the other ones I found while looking
on Pinterest. I’m pretty sure these pages are going to change along the way. It all depends on what I like to keep track off and what works or doesn’t work for me. For now.. This works..
I also use my Bullet Journal to write down the things I’m working on for my 1001 days Challenge. Keeping track of things is a lot easier when written down instead of trying to remember them.
I’ve also found it’s keeping me motivated to do the things I write on my to do lists. I just love crossing things off my list. Don’t you?
I also love sitting down each evening and going over my day and prepare the next day.
So far I love my Bullet Journal, and I’m really excited to see How organized my Life Will be from now on.. hihi.. okay maybe not my Life but at least my appointments and to do lists Will be.
Do you use a Bullet Journal? What kind of lists do you have?
#38 on my list is buy a Polaroid camera, and a little while back I got the chance to get it for free if I subscribed to an television guide. It was such a good deal that I couldn’t turn it down and now I’m the proud owner of a purple Fujifilm instax mini 8.
I was so excited when it arrived in the mail yesterday. The very first picture I took was of the boyfriend and me. I bought a mini album so I have a save place to keep the pictures.
What I really like about a Polaroid camera is that you have to think about the picture you want to take. It’s not like a digital camera where you can take 20 pictures and choose the best one. The instax mini doesn’t give you the best quality pictures but I think they have more meaning, because you only take 1. I also like the fact that you immediately get your picture. So it could be fun to use it to take a picture and give it away. And have I mentioned that the pictures you get are mini ! They are so cute!
I’m pretty sure I’ll take better pictures after a while because like all camera’s I’ll have to get used to this one. I’m already thinking about what to take a picture of next.
What do you think of the Fujifilm instax mini? Do you have one, or do you want one?
Today I’m starting this Photo Challenge (#91). I made it myself because I couldn’t find one I really liked. So I just looked at a lot of photo challenges and came up with this one.
I’ve already taken the 1st picture:
It’s a picture of our beautiful black kitten Zoey. She’s up to all kinds of mischief and tries her best to lie on the keyboard while I’m typing this.
Another goal finished! Last weekend we had a theme party, I celebrated my birthday together with one of my friends and we always have theme parties. ( So this was a easy one) This is our 4th party. And we’ve had a rockabilly theme, a hawaii theme, a pirate theme, and this year it was a redneck theme. I forgot to take pictures but we had a very successful evening with a lot of friends.
This makes my total of finished goals 19! Still a lot to do, But I still have 2 years to do these things.
